Once you understand that your success is largely due to your DNA, the circumstances of your birth, and your luck, you\u2019ll also understand that others are just as responsible for their failures as you are for your success.<\/p>\n<p>They are kind. They know that anxiety and stress, can be more deadly than many lethal diseases, and they strive to provide hope and solace, even when they can\u2019t cure.<\/p>\n<p>They listen. Hurting for your patients will make you a better doctor.<\/p>\n<p>Someone said, \u201cNobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They take care of themselves.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A burned-out doctor is not a good doctor like a burned-out bulb is not a good bulb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To care well for others, you first need to care for yourself.<\/p>\n<p>You are your most valuable resource. Don\u2019t waste it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>They define themselves by what they love, not by what they hate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>They focus on the good in people, on the great cases, on the lovely encounters.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They bring a smile to people\u2019s faces.<\/p>\n<p>The perfect doctor knows they aren\u2019t perfect.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody is.
